Dyersburg Police Department
Community Service Programs
The
Dyersburg Police Department offers several programs to the
community to help citizens stay informed and safe within their
neighborhoods. Officers devote their time to make a difference
in the community that they serve and protect.
Citizens Police Academy
Citizens
are chosen by application to attend a six week class that
includes hands on training and classroom presentations from
various divisions within the department. Graduates from the
program are permitted to participate in the ride along program
with the Uniform Patrol Division.
Law
Enforcement Day
The
department is host to the Chamber of Commerce Adult and Youth
Leadership Days. Participants are given an overview of the
departments different divisions and go away with a better
understanding of what the department does for the community
in its endeavor to provide a safe community for all
citizens. There is hands on training to enhance the day long
session.
Neighborhood
Watch
Citizens
that want to establish a Neighborhood Watch in their area
are given crime prevention tips and materials through presentations
from volunteer officers. Follow up meetings are held to assist
the group in maintaining its success.
